California Conservancy Grant to Pay for Wetlands Restoration
A plan to restore wetlands, create hiking trails and open a visitor center on former industrial land near Candlestick Point is edging closer to reality with a recent infusion of state funding. The California Coastal Conservancy, which met in San Jose on Thursday, awarded a $3.3 million grant to fund construction of improvements at Yosemite Slough, in the northern portion of Candlestick Point State Recreation Area. It is California's first urban state park and has limitless opportunities for building environmental awareness while providing terrific recreational opportunities.
